Some things that have happened:
1. Gabriel tripped, hit his head on the corner of the door, and got his forehead glued back together. It was absolutely heartbreaking. Also it was heartbreaking when I came home 2 days later and found the glue scraped off and a husband who reported, "Oh, well, what can you do?" I steri-stripped it, reinforced it with benzoin, and three weeks later it's just a small red scar.
*sigh* What can you do?
2. I started my new job. (Today!) (Yay!). So far so good. But today was nothing more than a hospital orientation. But I got to sleep an hour later. (Yay!) And had a traffic-free commute. (Yay!).

3. We've made friends with some neighbors who have a son that is just turning two. Gabriel is bigger than him. (*giant!*), and they are best buddies. But not as best buddies as Gabriel is with Jack. See Exhibit B. And Exhibit C. However it has been great because his Daddy is also a stay at home Daddy--so they have "Daddy Day Care" and play together most days of the week.
Nice for Gabriel. And for Daddy.

5. WORDS! G is 16 months old this week. And it is really so so fun. He's getting to be quite the linguist. So far we are hearing:
Mamma
Dada
Pappa
Nana
Up
Ashes, Ashes...Fall Down!
No, no, no
Yes
Book
Cup
Thunder
Jack
Shoes
Socks
Outside
Dog
Cat
Moo
Meow
Wow Wow Wow!
Elmo
Fan
Fan
Light
Duck
Chicken
Truck
Car
Quack
"Doot Doot"<--which, for your information, is any beeping, honking, or tooting sound.
....and I'm sure a few more than I can't think of right now.
6. I'm getting real kisses (mmmmmmm-ahhhhhhh).
7. I have a disgustingly runny nose and feel like junk today.
8. We only taught a few signs (please, milk, more), and he puts them together in combination. The other night he woke up and said, "Mamma"...then signed to me "milk, please."
9. I'm craving Tom Kha Gai--Thai Coconut Chicken Soup. Must be a sinus thing. Cross your fingers the hubby agrees to go pick it up after he gets home from Daddy Day Care (the afternoon edition).
Mmmmmmm--ahhhhhhh.

15 conceptions:
Can't wait to get "real" kisses, but for now, I'll take all the sloppy, open mouth kisses I can get from my 9 month old.
Fantastic! Love hearing such good things about life (except for the boo-boo and the runny nose, of course). But without the exceptions, we wouldn't appreciate the good, right? :D
I love this post. Well except for Exhibit A...
Seriously. Really happy for you.
Yay for the new job!
Boo for the head bashing, I would have been a MESS!
Holy cow, that is a lot of words! My girls are almost 15 months and I don't think they have half of those! Although, I swear they say stuff and we miss it! I'm all... "enunciate, mommy can't understand!", haha! No seriously, that's AWESOME!
Baby kisses are the BEST!!!
He is adorable - even with a giant bandage on his head.
I knew that Gabriel was advanced! Ry didn't get his first head lac until he was four. :)
Can't believe all of the words Gabriel is saying, wow!
Glad your new job sounds promising..glad to hear things are (largely) good in your neck of the woods.
Jekyll is one of my most favoritest places in the world. At some point in time, we have to get within the same airspace.
I love that soup! Yay for the yays! Boo for the ouches. :( he is so looking like you.
Wow! Lots going on while I have been gone. ALl sounds good but Gabriel's forhead. His little face is so precious!!!
I am going to miss you!!
Quite a busy month you had there. Gabriel sounds like the truly delightful baby he must be. No, toddler, sorry. Hope the new job is what you are hoping for. Sorry for the booboos. I hope they are all distant memories now. Runny nose included.
He is just too cute for words! And I love all the words he's saying! That's one of my favorite parts of that age.
Yay for a better commute and more sleep! I hope the new job is all you dreamed it would be!
Gabriel is such a cutie and so smart! And doesn't every boy eventually end up with stitches??! (I'm so not looking forward to that with my little guy!)
Good luck with the new job!
So glad you are back. Sounds like an action packed month...but lots of fun. Hope the new job is everything you want it to be and bummer about the cold...we all had it here too....it is going around.

Great to get the update. Thank you! Those are adorable picture of G and Jack. It sounds like he is coming along verbally really well. Good luck with the new job. Thanks for sharing. Heather
I hope you enjoy your new job and the new commute. I am glad to hear that Gabriel is talking and signing. One of my close friends does "Signing Time" videos with her son and he signs a lot of stuff. But, I think she has to watch it too because then what would be the point if he knew all the words and you didn't? Feel better and take care!
